“This Feels Selfish” — And Why That’s Not a Bad Thing

“This feels selfish.”
If that thought has crossed your mind while considering a session… you’re not alone.
I hear it all the time.
You’ve been taught to take care of everyone else first. To downplay your needs. To only treat yourself when everything else is handled.
So when something comes along that’s just for you. No milestone, no justification, no “reason” it feels uncomfortable.
But let’s take a step back.
When was the last time you did something purely for yourself?
Not for your partner. Not for your family.
Not because you “earned it.”
Just because you wanted to feel good?
That’s where most people hesitate.
Because they’ve been conditioned to believe that wanting something for themselves is indulgent… unnecessary… selfish.
But here’s the truth—
Choosing yourself is not selfish.
It’s powerful.
And it doesn’t just stay in the studio.
The confidence you build here doesn’t disappear when you leave. It follows you.
Into how you speak. How you carry yourself. How you show up in your life.
I’ve watched it happen over and over again.
Someone walks in unsure if they’re “allowed” to take up this kind of space…
And walks out realizing they’ve been allowed all along.
You’re not taking anything away from your life by doing this.
You’re adding something to it.
You’re allowed to want this.
